But first, while you're already here, I would love to share with you a little bit about the company and myself!

So... hi, I'm Emily, and it’s awesome to meet you! I'm a 30-something North Carolina native living in St. Petersburg, Florida, (by way of Arizona) with my boyfriend Ryan and our cuddly heeler-shepherd-mutt, Doug. When Ryan and I met, we were both at really stale (and miserable, tbh) places in our lives, and we immediately fell in love with each other’s inquiring and adventurous nature.

It quickly became our joint goal to live on a sailboat and cruise around the world. So two years later, I finally stepped out of my career as a statistical analyst to pursue financial freedom and a job I could do from anywhere... oh, and without a boss.

I knew my new business would not peddle goods that weren’t 100% necessary in one’s daily life. Products today are too disposable, either because they were simply created to be that way, or because their quality doesn't withstand the test of time. 

I started Ideal Wrap to offer an upbeat and positive spin on the eco-friendly alternatives beginning to pop up here in the US. I didn’t like the negative marketing approach that other companies took, you know the ones – “the world is going to end in 12 years if we don’t do something about plastic straws.” And I didn’t resonate with the minimalistic, we’re-better-than-you-because-all-our trash-from-the week-fits-in-a-jar companies either. Eco-friendly alternatives should be for everyone, no matter how old you are, where you live, who you voted for, or what you ate for breakfast. If you want to use less plastic, you can just… use less plastic… you don’t have to fit into someone else’s definition of what that looks like. And if you don’t want to use less plastic… then that’s fine, too! I can’t stand marketing that makes anyone feel guilty for their personal choices. We all have different reasons for the choices we make. 

So with that said, I just want to be here to educate, celebrate, and have a good time. Plastic-free alternatives are actually pretty fun and amazing. The even better part about them, is that the majority of companies providing them are small businesses! So when you buy a pack of Ideal Wrap or a silicone straw, you’re not paying a rich CEO’s bonus, you’re helping someone like you make his or her dreams come true.
